Getting Around

In a colectivo

While in town:

BIKES! Bike rentals; AFFORDABLE! Easy to use, make sure your phone is charged.

Walking -- get those steps in! Create smaller waypoints for stopping or go in and get a snack, coffee, or ice cream (helado) if you're not in a rush.

Their regular site was mostly shit, but on mobile is okay and you can always just head to the ticket counter for help.
el boleto = a ticket
yo necesito (yo ness-ah-SEE-to) = I need...
quisiera (key-see-air-uh) = I would like...
a + city(ciudad: see-you-dahd)= to...Cancún, Tulum, etc
cuánto cuesta? = How much?
¿tomas las tarjetas? (toe-mahs lahs tar-hettas) = do you take cards?

Colectivos in town: (these are great!)

They are cheap, easy to use, but you will need a bit of Spanish or be pretty versed in charades and having internet for translating. You'll need cash, $20 - 60MXN, coins are great to use here, easy to get ready before you hop out and hand off.
Look for the buses and vans with writing on them; they tend to collect in certain areas. Ask around and someone will know
¿Dónde está el estación de los colectivos?

They're all near the underpass, lined up and organized.

Ask around and find out where your van is lining up!
To Bacalar
To Cancun
To Tulum/Central Point

Taxis

Flag them down, or get the number of one you like. Download 'whats app' to keep in touch! The rates should be posted or available for viewing/verifying. OR just ask before you get in; and determine the price before you head out. Haggling is okay, but not for lower than the posted cost (big sheets that show sections of the city and the prices).
